24" monitor needed. Whittled down to choice of 3.. but open to other suggestions

2407 WFP ?

All of the good points of the 2408WFP without the ghosting issues some of the '08 suffered with.

Either that or the NEC, they make cracking screens.

I've been happy with my Samsung SM-2493HM. I think it looks nice and I like the touch sensitive buttons. :) Does what I need nicely (Game, web, etc and very occasional movie watching).

IMO the Samsung is nicer than the NEC (asthetically). I can't seem to find it listed on ocUK's site anymore in order to do a quick spec comparison between the two.

SM-2493HM = TN, so LCD24WMGX3 > SM-2493HM by default. TN's have price and response rate going for them, but the NEC is multisync and so has excellent colour, blacks and viewing angles. However, the NEC is made as a gaming monitor, so they have addressed response times too, making it a very good monitor all round.

I think it's going to be the NEC :)

Thanks for the info. I looked at the dells, but tbh I'm biased as the Dell monitor my sister has, has had some problems and my mother has a dell too, which is also not great.

Is the NEC worth 100 quid more than the BenQ FP241W? If its better for gaming than thats already me on the bandwagon.

It's not that simple really, yes, the panel is a TN but I don't see any problems with TN panels. Unless you are like a photo/cad user then perhaps, but I find the colours are more than adequate for gaming and general web stuff, work stuff, etc. With regards to viewing angles, again, I sit face on to the screen and unless you sit at a very weird angle I don't see any problems with TN. IMO the NEC is not as nice to look at as the Samsung. :)

I bought my monitor last month, went for the HP LP2475W in the end, what swung my mind was the reviews on tftcentral, this is the conclusion on the NEC

"NEC have pulled out all the stops here to make the ultimate multimedia screen, and they have come pretty close compared with the competition. There's certainly a massive range of options, features, extra modes, ergonomic adjustments and interfaces. There's about everything you could need, and I was particularly impressed by a few nice extra things like the remote control, ambient light sensor and through mode. These were all very welcome additions to the 24" market, and not something you see commonly at all. Here's hoping more manufacturers follow suit! There were a range of other features with more 'questionable' use, but at least they have included them for those who might find them of benefit.

Performance wise, ignoring the massively overly bright default settings, the screen performed pretty well in terms of colour accuracy, black depth and contrast. Calibration produces some very pleasing results as one would hope, and this is probably expected from an AMVA panel. Combine this with the wide viewing angles, decent input lag and respectable responsiveness, and you have a very good all round screen here! I'm sure some people will gripe that it's not IPS, or that they wanted a wide gamut screen, but if that's the case, maybe the HP LP2475W would be a better choice for you. If you want a multimedia screen, with a very impressive range of options and features, this would make an excellent choice."

Why do you throw a spanner in the works? WHY?! :(

Hmm.. cheaper, and possibly a better screen. This really should be a no brainer, but .. "why is it cheaper if it's better?" is burning in my mind.
