24 port cat6 patch panel

Yeah have been using the 568B scheme. I didn't know about the different punch down types it is punching them down fine but I will invest in the type with the two blades my punchdown says kd-1 as the model. It has the scissors which don't catch unless I have it at a angle.

Another query is that now I have the cable working. I made a 10m patch cable with some leftover solid cat6 utp and connected upto the patch from my superhub just as a means to test.

I am only getting a 100mb link instead of 1gb

any ideas why?

I've just looked into my network adapter and windows states it as a realtek gbe family network adapter. However I look on my motherboards website and its an Atheros board.

Tried to install the software from the manufacturer website but it tells me it cant find an Atheros board. Confused.

I do recall getting 1gbps when I had this board in my htpc plugged directly into my computer but I have since reinstalled windows so cant recall what driver device it had then

Turns out im a div. My patch cable I made was bad. 5pin was slightly out even thought it had first tested OK.

Used the proper cat6 RJ45 jacks and all is well!

What an experience this has been :)

Oh well may serve well to help others.
