24p motion smoothing... hrm

Edit: I was just testing it again and the real problem is it's just not consistent, it's like it switches on and off all the time, i noticed in long pans it kept speeding up and slowing down, going juddery and then smooth every second or so, it makes most scenes look like it was shot by a drunk person, very odd looking but you can see if it worked properly it should be good, for now it stays off.

Yep. This is what I was referring to earlier when I said "Rubber banding".

It's because the camera operators select different shutter angles to control motion blur. It is highly variable from shot to shot. For example, when filming a car chase it the shutter angle many be quite long, to create motion blur, Or they could use a small shutter angle to keep motion sharp.

When you start filling in frames with a computer algorithm, the algorithm has no idea what the cinematographer was trying to achieve, so it fills in frames for a small shutter angle and a large shutter angle using exactly the same calculations. This is why you see this artefacting.
