is now a good time to buy a intel (not quad) upto £250 or wait a bit , and which board to go with it (£ 160 ish to spend on board if needed)

Depends if you want nehalam or not, why so much if your not going quad core!

£110 will get you the awesome E8400 or an extra 20 the E8500

Nonsense!

The P5Q Deluxe is a great board, and it's clocking 45nm quads better than any of the X48 boards. The only reason to go for X48 is if you're going to run Crossfire.

The p5q deluxe is a cracking board. have had one for a few weeks now and been very impressed with it.

If you only need a dual-core then the E8500 will do the business. But if you want to spend 250 quid on one, then waiting for the Q9550 to drop in price in a fortnight is the sensible option.

Thats a very good system at the minute. Dont know if your much of a gamer but the only things i would change would be the graphics card to an ati 4870 and upgrade to vista 64

so my x38 board is still good ? was thing about either a p45 or x48 but dont no which is the better or are they for different things

Nothing wrong with X38. X48 is only a cherry picked X38 anyway. I have had a E8500 to 4.5Ghz on mine. Personally i would wait until the E8600 is out as it's a different stepping than the current Wolfdales.

Dont bother with that board! its shocking! lol

Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5 is a nice solid board aswell as the x38 version

Personally the Asus ramage board would be best with a nice Q9450!

? What's wrong with the P5Q Deluxe? Killer board in my experience

I'm looking forward to this! :o

looks great to me....and I was just able to boot at 600fsb with just 1.3v on the northbridge :) cant seem to get it stable up there though :(

Well admittedly it doesn't have the fabulous Fischer Price look that the Gigabytes are sporting this season, but black is back, baby. Black is back.

too blue for my liking though aesthetically pleasing and well designed lol i just think the p45 chipset is a waste of time as most x48 chipset will outperform it! look at the gigabyte x48 DQ6 AMAZING, though it looks yuk too

Sounds to me like you don't know too much about the p45. It's amazing for hitting high fsbs....

I've had a X38 that did 525fsb stable...but couldnt do much more than that....and I haven't really seen the X48s doing much better.
