So I had to RMA my i2500k a couple of weeks ago, while waiting I went out and bought a i3570k that i'm currently running with the rest of the spec in my sig.

Would you keep the 3570k, go back to the i2500k or go for something else?

I've been able to get the 3570k to run @4.4ghz with very minimal effort but haven't pushed hard as didn't know if i'd be selling it on or not.

I've also got an asus p8z77-v deluxe mobo that is an untested return which I think maybe fine or could have been what killed my i2500k in the first place...

I'm not sure if its worth testing the board again (it worked fine until it pumped 1.6v through the CPU by mistake.) and risking another dead cpu.

I was happy with my old setup, but was looking at going SLI (hence the asus) but now wondering if I should just look at a better GPU and maybe an i7 instead?
 
Considering you already have a 3570k then i would stick with that and a z77 motherboard with SLI. If you want to test your motherboard then but a cheap cpu such as a celeron and test it that way.

You should have access to the members market so i would look there.
 
3570k is absolutely fine for any type of gaming.

I thought about upgrading to an i7 but to be honest the 3570k runs any game I throw at it and never misses a beat.
 
Got the I
2500k running @5ghz on the Asus (vdroop needs tweaking) and 3570k seems to fall over @4.4ghz.

Think I'll stick with the 2500k as at least that doesn't have a problem with my 670 pcie 3.0 bug
 
If the new setup didn't make you go "wow I need to keep this" then I recommend the 2500k. Why upgrade if there doesn't feel much benefit in doing it?

I have a p8z77-v deluxe and a 3570k to run @4.6ghz.

I also had problems with my mobo, I think it messed up my ram which I had to replace, but I'm all good now for a good 3/4 months.

If I were you I would just do whatever is the cheapest option, both cpu's are great.
 
keep the 3570k its a beast of a processor, good clockers will sell in the future too with a view to getting the 3770k . Or sell now and get the 3770k for around the £200-230 mark really its up to you, Though with the 3570k being as good as it is I cant see the i7 really being that much more performance for the price. a z77 board and sli with the i5 would do you solid (Its actually my future build once i nab a 2nd 670 from my mate when he upgrades). The Asrock extreme 4 is my current mobo, gotta say while a lot of people out there don't like Asrock this board is solid and I have got my 3570k to 4.6 stable @ 1.265v however if you are going SLI I'd say spend that bit more to get something slightly better (MSI z77 board is pretty popular, so are the asus though if you ask me they are over-priced for what they are)
 
Cheers for the replies, in the end I sold both the ASUS board and 3570k and went back to my old setup.

Only ever bought the ASUS for a cheap SLI upgrade, but that went wrong after it shot 1.6vcore through it. Also my 670 had a real big problem with the z77/Ivy setup and really annoyed the hell out of me.

I think i'll look at shifting my 670 soon and moving to a r290x or something else.

Op i would stick with the 3570k its a good chip and 4.4 is a good clock and it will serve you well for a while, though if the 2500k is a good clocker then keep that. edit: just seen you have a good one.

Im on a 2500k and the only upgrade id go for is a 3770k if I went crossfire.
