2500k OCing?

Hi guys - i am AMD only so don't laugh!!

Got a 2500k and a question about FSB.
I was always told not to increase multiplier but increase FSB.
why on the 2500k does it stay at FSB =100 and the multiplier increases to 43?
Can you not raise the FSB on an intel? :confused:

I have 2133mhz DDR3 RAM so how do i get that to earn its money? :confused:

Also 1t v 2t?

1t used to be better but now it doesn't seem to matter and i can't find any info on this...

There is much more than the processor linked to the Base Clock with Sandy Bridge.

Memory Controller, PCI-E clock, SATA and USB controllers etc.

Increasing the Base Clock can cause issues with all these so don't do it.

The CPU has an unlocked multiplier so there's no need to change the Base Clock.

1T offers a tiny performance gain.

2T offers much better stability.

Stick to 2T until everything is installed and stable, then try 1T if you wish.

You'll need to set your RAM speed, timings and voltage in the BIOS.

If the RAM has an XMP profile you can just use that.

Watch out for the voltage though as anything above 1.60V isn't recommended.

I hope you didn't pay a lot for 2133MHz RAM as it doesn't offer too much performance increase over 1600MHz.

running BCLK @ 100 (base clock?)
Multiplier for memory set to 21.33 = 2133
Also running @ 1T on auto timings of 11-11-11-30-1T.
Voltage i've set to 1.4v.
Running a multiplier of 50 so 4988mhz.

Does this sound reasonable for my first real attempt at it on an intel?

AMDs were easy.... lol
