2500k overclocking

Hey man

Are you using a Heatkiller CPU block for the new Sandy Bridge chip?

If so is it the older one for 1156? Does this fit? Or is it necessary to buy an entirely new block for this new line of CPUs?

Good luck with the overclock!

Tom

quote from thermalright website:

"Dear users,

All our models that support the LGA1156 are naturally compatible with the Sandy Bridge, the LGA1155.
As the LGA1155 shares the same screw hole design, you can just purchase the LGA1156 BTK if you wish to upgrade your old Thermalright tower coolers to Sandy Bridge platform."

so apparently you need the bolt through kit for SB

TNA the reason 1156 is relevant to your question about coolers is because the CPU hole sizes for the coolers are the same for both ChipSets. So if a cooler will fit one it will fit the other. :)

Thanks. Much nicer when people polity explain, rather than assuming and trying to make the other person look like an idiot.

Thank 1Day :D

I wasn't trying to make you look like an idiot. Merely pointing out that the same information has been posted all over the board and with a few seconds searching would have been readily available. Its even in Gibbos post about the chips going on sale.
