Need a decent 250gb ssd, what should I get for £80-£100 ?

what is the SSD going to be used for?

the MX100 has slower write speeds

the Evo 850 is £10 over your budget but has a faster write speed

•Sequential Read: 540Mbps
•Sequential Write: 520Mbps

the MX100 is £84.98 and the evo is £109.99 so depending on what you want from the SSD for.

a lot of people on here suggest the MX100 as its a good SSD, are you going to be using it on a sata 3 port as well?

shows at £109.99, even the 840 evo is still £104.99 both 250GB drives

take it your not looking at the OCUK website?

yeah, I know a few places where you can get it for that price, even a local store has it for about £90 near me

the crucial uses better mlc nand vs tlc nand on the evo

write speeds are a moot point as most the speed comes from the read figures

Mlc vs tlc is just not a realistic worry, the 850 is marginally faster especially at smaller capacities.

Is it the TLC nand that is causing the 840 Evo's problems? I thought it was firmware related.

Most likely firmware, but knowbody knows for sure if it's the TLC NAND or a firmware issue, even if it's not the NAND it won't be helping the situation however not all TLC is the same, so saying TLC is bad and avoiding it altogether isn't a good idea.
