£2600 Machine But Maybe One Problem?

Hi,

I have told the customer that 8800GT maybe the better option.

Think of it this way.

Your going to buy your dream car ( PC is this case ) and your looking to buy a "Alfa Romeo" but then somebody says " Well, For a cheaper price you could get a Vauhall astra which is faster etc. But it just aint a Alfa Romeo. < Thats how the costumer feels ,You understanding me?

I wouldn't really make a comparison between PCs and cars. As while you are seen out in public with cars, and may even use them to pull, or something, you are hardly going to use a PC for that. It just sits there under your desk, working.

That said, I'm finding it hard to come up with a good comparison. How about this:

You could buy your girlfriend a nice diamond ring. You could either spend all your money now and get a 10 carat diamond, or spend half that and get a 5 carat. Then a year later, get her matching earrings.
To the untrained eye, there will be very little difference in looks between the 5 and the 10 carat diamonds. But your girlfriend would be much happier with a ring and the earrings, since they go well together, rather than a nicer diamond that wasn't noticably better.

The Specs i will display later,

But i have to agree on the forum is becoming something else, My username was Jay123 ( banned for displaying a picture with warning to other members , Animals related ) I didnt get a Warning / Straight banned. Also 1/2 years back of being on this forum ( non-Member) , It was a brilliant place to find information and share information without somebody saying " Why did you buy that , when this is here " Oh wells . I spose things change :o

If this is true, I'm glad the forum has gone this way. I'd rather know that I'm being told what's the most cost-effective stuff rather than simply telling the person to spend all their money at once.

If the 'costumer' wants to spend on £2600 regardless of the fact that it would not be in his/her/its best interests - hoping that you'd have mentioned this - then whatever, let them waste their money.

But to come on here saying people are rude when they're trying to help you get the most out of your money isn't going to make you any friends.

Pretty sad you take to insulting the forum as a whole based on a tiny bit of critercism.
I should probably point out that if there spedning that much on a PC they should probably wait for the new GTX's to be released next year too, or the new GTS's even.
But i dare say that'd be water of a ducks back too.

Unless, of course, you'd be buying everything from OCuk. In which case go ahead :P

You say the comsumer gets what the consmer wants.

Your not a good sales man really.

As your have people comming back with in weeks complaining that the system you have just build could do more for half the cost.

Its not a good way to go. People like something cheap. If you can offer it them for cheaper they will use you again and again.

Anyone that spends more than 1500 on a computer is being ripped off.

I'm serprised that nobody has mentioned that you are effectively selling other people's knowledge and ripping some poor sucker off. That's classy.
