hi there i have a issue with my CPU.

when im rendering under load 2 of the cpu cores drop from windows.

i loose 2 cores 4 threads and it causes my system to Bluescreen.

when the system reboots the board will not post. cpu error light remains lit.

ive tryed my friends 2500k in the system no issues.

tryed a fresh os same.

updated bios.

set everything to stock.

ive been running the system on auto voltage @42 multi.

it seems to be getting worse. ive even tried raising the vcore to 1.35 and 1.38 as high as dare go no change.

ive been running a coolermaster V6 on it and temps have never gone over 55.

could you advise.

Auto voltage is a nasty thing, when it needs power...it can auto to over 1.4v (I done the same when I first OC'd my 2500k...noticed luckily within a few seconds and turned the test off).

Id say if you only had it a short time, it would be manufacturer faulty cores...if you had it a while, the auto voltage has probably fried them.

EDIT:
Just noticed you put up 4-5 months of ownership.
Get it RMA'd, OCUK are good with faulty chips, but make sure you specify that it dies when doing a certain thing.

How long have you had it for?

wow never new that well damm i thought i was safe with the auto voltage as i asumed it was the stock vid ?

so what my asus p8p67 has killed my chip with auto vcore ?

I wouldnt put it directly on that as Im only speaking from my experience, but when I OC'd mine to 4.4 (Ok I know its slightly higher) it auto'd to 1.43v, dropped a little and then held at 1.41v.

These are strong chips mind, Ive read a lot of posts in the "5GHz club" thread and a few have OC'd with over 1.4v. Id be 90% sure that it was a manufacturer fault and the auto V has kicked it.

Just get it RMA'd anyway, its still under warranty with OCUK, and theyre good with faulty chips.

the thing is i use my system for my work like everyday atm im having to run it with no turbo on at 1.35 to keep it stable and tbh it can die at anytime. had 4hrs from it fine had 10 seconds died. its totally random.

not having my system for weeks waiting for RMA will kill my workload :(

5ghz wow now id love to render on that badboy tbh with my needs editing video. productions in 3DS and c4D AE + misc i just need a stable cpu that can pump some power without melting the ice caps lol.

i was thinking of diving into a nice watercooling setup but tbh i need my system to be stable for hard renders lasting over 30hrs.

if you return it to overclockers, i think you would have it back or a new one within two weeks.

it is always a pain in the bum when a cpu or mb's die as you cant carry on using them unless you happen to have another CPU with the same socket (a good point when using AMD) or an exact same motherboard.

get it returned ASAP and hope for the best :/

or you could buy another i7 2600k and try to get your money back for the faulty one. but i think it would be best if you just returned it
