hey,
just wondering if anyone could tell me if I could get COD4 working on the 2600xt 512mb?

Ive just bought the card and now after reading what I can Im thinking Ive made the wrong choice, unfortunatly I cant try if until christmas as thats when my gf is giving me the case lol.

Im not too bothered just yet about playing other games such as crysis. But I really do want to play COD4
will be running with:

amd 2600XT
Intel E6300
2gb 800 pc2-6400 ocz ram

Im assuming that Im going to need to overclock the processor to get this to play?

Thanks in advance.dan

Im playing this with an X1900XT on a 24in monitor. I don't think you will have any problems and no need to overclock either.

ah great news thank you :) it will only be a 22" monitor so thats cool, I wont be using high res I shouldnt have thought, used to xbox resolutions

Hi there you would certainly benifit from o,clocking the cpu espically for games like crysis but at your monitors native res your card might struggle :)

so what res would be suggested? sorry pretty new to pc gaming.

in regards the overclock, ive read the e6300 oc's pretty well, i was thinking maybe trying to push it to around 2.4ghz on air cooling with freezer pro just with a few extrafans in case (2x120mm & 1 side 80mm)

CoD4 specs

Minimum:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.4 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) 64 2800+ processor or any 1.8Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported
512MB RAM (768MB for Vista)
NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 6600 or better or ATI(R) Radeon(R) 9800 Pro or better

Recommended:

2.4 GHz dual core or better is recommended
1024MB RAM (2048MB for Vista)
3.0 Shader Support recommended. Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better

As you can see, your system is up to the job.
You don't have to overclock, its an option if you want to obviously but not essential.

should have no problems playing cod 4 with that card, my brother plays it with a 7900gt at 1680x1050, just keep the aa to a minimum. thing ive always liked about the cod series is that they play well on a good range of systems

thanks everyone for your responses, much appriciated. I must admit, that it is somewhat of a relief that it will work, its the only game i'm interested in at the moment for some reason. I think I'm going to go for the overclock also to try and get that little bit longer out of the CPU.

Thanks again
