I want get myself a G-Sync Monitor, I also want one that does 120/144Hz and I'd really like a 27 incher, I currently have a 22" with a native resolution of 1680*1050 so it will be a real nice upgrade.
Like any sane gamer I want Max FPS and them to be smooth and solid, so G-Sync and high refresh rate are key, I normally use V-Sync to achieve this as I don't like tearing/rippling of images.
Here in lies my dilemma
Do I go for the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-067-AC&groupid=17&catid=948 which supports 1920*1080 but has a better chance of my me achieving higher FPS and keeping things buttery smooth, or do I go for the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-070-AS&groupid=17&catid=948 which has the higher resolution but I will be losing FPS and thus maybe not achieve such a smooth gameplay experience.
I'm aware of possible VRAM issues, but I have the card I have and a year or 2 down the line when newer cards are around I may upgrade and this may alleviate any issues I have pushing the extra pixels on the ROG Swift.
Or do I go for the cheaper, less resolution option happy in the knowledge that my card will be good for a fair old while with no worries about having to SLI or upgrade the card when HL3 comes out
I know I will be over the moon with either one of these monitors so it's just a matter of knowing if my GFX card will be up to the job and if the image quality of the ROG swift is that much better (£250 or so worth) than the ACER.
Some input from people with a 980 and ROG swift would be appreciated, likewise anyone with the ACER 27" and a 980 would be welcomed.
Also if I'm patient are there any monitors coming to market soon that would be worthwhile waiting for that would make the current offerings look a bit pants?
