27" Monitor for console

Any one here using a 27" monitor for console gaming

Was thinking of getting one but I know some people say 1080 isn't enough for a 27" monitor (I know consoles can only support 1080 anyway) but I'm wondering is it really much of a difference from 24-27 in terms of quality

It depends on the game tbh, I've always had my Ps3 & Ps4 hooked up to the monitor and for the most pat it's absolutely fine. FPS games and anything that jumps into a first person perspective are the ones that come out the worst though, the narrow FOV can make things feel clunky. I tried to play through Wolfenstein and Killzone on the Ps4 but just couldn't get past the narrow, blurry view.

I've got both a 24" & 27" monitor, I can't see any differences tbh. The only issue I had at one point was dynamic contrast being forced on through one of the picture modes I was using, it made some games too dark and basically unplayable.
 
I used to play on ps4 on a monitor 27 inch.

they work fine so long as you spend time setting the picture up. I would look for one thats got good reviews picture wise though. as a lot of gaming monitors scrimp on picture quality

one of the downsides you will be sat closer and it easier to notice graphic flaws and if you play fps online you will be at a disadvantage cause of the high console fov but you close to the action the most tv users so can give you a edge.
 
The people who say 1080p isn't enough for 27" have they ever seen a 1080p projector or large plasma?

It's all relative to how good your eyesight is and seating distance.

The only way it's not enough is if your ridiculously close to the screen

Got it for a ps4. Prior to this was playing it downstairs on a Panasonic gt50 so I was a bit nervous about a quality downgrade.

It's fine. Need a a bit of adjustment with modes until you find a picture that you prefer. Haven't looked back.

I have the same PC monitor, it does the job well for PS4, basically anything that's 1080p, but old consoles look like trash on it, which is due to the non existent up-scaling tech most PC monitors have.

I have a setup where i can switch between PC monitor and TV without switching cables, some games just require a big tv to get the best experience imo, that's a personal choice though.
