27” monitor query

So I play like of Resident Evil, Civ5 and Battlefield 4 and soon to be 6.

Are VA panels still relevant?
Got an ancient Samsung monitor and really, really needs replacing

Just notice gigabyte one sub £200.
Worth it or aim for MSI OLED for around £400?

It won't be as good as OLED, but it will still be decent enough. It won't offer the stunning richness of an OLED screen, but VA is still good.

If you're going to spend on OLED, it would be more worthwhile on a bigger monitor.
 
I have VA panel a few gens old. Decent black level evenness, decent colours, angle viewing (it's curved) decent contrast/brightness

However the VA trails are noticeable and annoying though, but it depends on the game/scene. In doom I don't notice it but slow scrolling dark foreground & background I do.

Can get it even cheaper if you go B Grade, £394 - warranty if device not registered already would be with MSI, so the 6 month or years warranty with ocuk would be a non issue, but yeah can't go wrong with that if you're happy to go OLED. (Just know HDR brightness) isn't that great yet on monitors, so if that's something that's important, get a tandem oled one instead (probably pay more though for the privilege)
 
I have the latest Asus oled and to be honest my 4k LG which is ips is just ask good for resi games. With HDR on. 2nd hand they 200 quid now . Cost me 750. Gp950. Oh try cronos new dawn..great game
 
Major cons for each panel tech

TN = poor viewing angles, poor colour accuracy
VA = smearing esp when FPS drops (personally this is very noticeable to the point i physically get headaches from it, so I've sworn off VA for personal use)
IPS = IPS glow esp if using in a darker room
OLED = burn in, text fringing when using it for office use (less of an issue with 27 inch 4k OLEDs - larger pixel sizes will have more apparent text fringing), VRR flicker

Add poor contrast levels on IPS
Colour phase shifting on va although a lot better than TN. Won't notice it with curved panel.

Another issue with LCD is edge lit, generally poor. Direct backlight is better.

Im old and colour blind so i dont care about any of that :cry:
