27"> Monitor

Asus PB278Q.

So much quality for the £££.

Great colours, sharpness, fully adjustable stand, loads of inputs.

Sorry to hijack someone's else's thread but I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on this monitor (along with new GFX, but that's a different thread altogether!) for a while. I did read you don't use this primarily for gaming (FPS - BF3/4, titan fall on pre order, and some minecraft).

Will this monitor be up to, or are there better ones available at this resolution?

Cheers

The problem is all current 1440p monitors are IPS panel based which tend to have higher lag as well as lower refresh rates.

The exception been the upcoming new monitor from ROG which will be 1440p high refresh and low lag but be on a TN panel, this is supposed to be around april for around £600.

That been said there are many people that game on 1440p monitors and probably will say they don't notice a difference. There are some reviewers that also say they don't notice a difference and most but the top gamers would be fine......I don't have any personal experience to offer, however some others might be able to give there experiences.

So do you think a higher quality, lower resolution monitor would be better for gaming? I am currently running 2 Dell U2412M's at the minute and have been fairly happy with them (I have not been blown away though) so I would not be comfortable going back to 1 monitor I don't think.

I haven't seen anything wrong with the Asus at all in gaming, it's just that I'm lucky enough to also have a 144Hz screen which is better for this role.

I have been using my Asus PB278Q for around 6 months now for gaming across a wide range of games and no problem. Thinking of upgrading two monitor at work for this model in the near future.
