I have a Acer 24" 60hz and have just bought the Acer 24" 245HQ 120hz 3d screen tonight....i looked at the Samsung SyncMaster S27A950D 27" Monitor but read that it didn't support N-vision and the 3d in most games was poor according to the reviews compared to NVIDIA 3d, and also you can't use nvidia glasses on these screens.

Nice set up but for my eyes and gaming I'd want that monitor further away.

Thanks! I hope to replace the HDTV with an other LA2405wg soon, then I will mount the HDTV on the wall.

Personally, I like it very close as you can see everything a lot better without straining your eyes to look for things, allows you to spot enemies faster and shoot them. ;)

Oh c'mon! At least take the anime off :o

Guess you shouldn't see what's to my right: http://myanimecollection.game-maps.net/animestuff/2011-07-31 11.37.42.jpg

Has anyone got a Dell U2711 who doesn't always run it native?

It's the perfect monitor for work but I'm slightly worried on the gaming side that if I haven't the system to run the game native the quality in running it at a lower resolution like 1920x1080 may be drop in quality may too severe?

I went from my 19" (1280x1024) to a 20" (1680x1050) and within 6 months I had to go back to my 19" as the small text size was damaging my eyes. I did try increasing the text size in windows but this makes websites and somethings look odd. It was like heaven going back to my 19" too.

So I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and get a 30" with a stupidly high res, na I got a 27.5 inch with a sensible res. I prob would have gone bigger then 27.5 if the res stayed at 1920x1200

Thats just your eyes though, a 30" doesnt have a stupidly high rez, it has a high rez that for most people is perfectly usable. Unfortunately for your eyes its no good but if you would have gone bigger then 27 and stayed at 1080p why not just get a tv? 1080p on anything over a 30" is poor. I know as i used a 32" samsung tv at 1080p for 8 months and it was ok but nothing compared to 2560x1600 which is quite easy to get used to.

This!

Once you get your eyes on the extra space and detail, you will not want to go back to a smaller screen with lower res.

well i game on a 30" and would not go back to anything less, as for the screen res i would deffo go for a monitor with a better res, which can be had for lees than the monitor you linked to, ive heard good things about the hazro's that do 2560 x 1440 for just under £400, i personally cannot see any advantage of the samsung @1080p over a cheaper hazro.

The advantage that a number of people are not seeing as they get distracted by the "small" res is that the Samsung screen is 120hz. Currently there is no monitor available that does 120hz at higher resolution (i understand that only display port output could produce this right now), therefore you have to make a choice - higher res vs higher hz. For fps games, gamers have consistently reported that 120hz makes for smoother gameplay and really adds to the experience. I'm just waiting for a non-glossy 27" 120hz monitor to be released before I jump in too.

OP need to consider where u will place the monitor in case of reflections as the screen is highly reflective with a dark picture. Have a read of this thread in case u havent seen it yet http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18279602&highlight=username_creed&page=11 (approx page 11 onwards for user reviews).

1. it's a strain on the gpu, go for 24" (resolution 1920x1080)
2. yes this varies, and it's annoying that it's not written on the tech specs anymore.

Read the thread, the Samsung 27" is 1920x1080.
