2700k for gaming?

It's on socket 2011, not 1155.

Performance wise they are similar

Here is 2600k vs 3820 comparison. You will see there is negligible difference between the two even though 3820 stock speed is higher

However you haven't mentioned if you need a new motherboard aswell.

Hey thanks for the link,

Yes i'm on phenom 960t and it's starting to fall behind in a few things so need processor and board :)

Was looking at the msi big bang and 2700k got them in my basket ready to buy just seeing if any other offers pop up today. :)

I have the 2700K myself, came for a X6 1090T and noticed the difference right from botting up when the 2700K was on stock settings and I had overclocked my 1090T to 4.6Ghz. You will not be disappointed at all mate, it's a seriously fast processor that is easily overclockable (I have mine on 4.8Ghz) and will play anything you throw at it. If anything my 580 is holding me back slightly but that's only in BF3.

Yes sounds good I'm going to have a quick total up of my finances and then buy the 2700k.

Any recommends on a board from ocuk that's at a good price right now?
Was thinking mpower?
