2700X hitting 100c+

So my brand new 2700x which arrived today along with a brand new kraken x62, at default settings is at 50c in the bios, booting into Windows and it's over 100c.

No idea what is going on here double and triple checked everything, can't seem to find out why it's that high.

It's either gonna be voltage too high, or cooler not properly seated/pumping.

Motherboard is the Asus TUF 470, it has an aio header and a CPU header which do I connect the kraken x62 with. Manual says CPU, motherboard manual says aio header.

EDIT: just swapped things about still at 100c

What are you reading temps with? CAM won't read it right. Try HWinfo64

Sounds like an issue with contact between the ISH and cooler imo

Just taken the kraken x62 off and redid thermal compound and replaced it, still showing 100c in Windows.

You need to use latest hwinfo, the only one so far that updated to ryzen 2

Which monitoring program are you using, what temps are your bios monitoring system showing?

Just installed Ryzen master and it's showing 30c idle, also checked hwinfo and it's the same phew.

So basically ignore CAM software it sucks

Bios usually puts load on the CPU so it's not idle

Ryzen has a temperature offset that some software doesn't understand.

Haha yer CAM freaks out as soon as i load into windows , i hope CAM and other apps can be updated to show proper temps in future.

I think the BIOS also doesn't downclock the CPU so it will tend to be a little warmer even with low/no load.

I've used it daily for over a year, have it open full screened on a different monitor and have never had a real issue with it. The only issue I had was when I upgraded my main monitor to 1440p and Windows used it's auto scaling thing, that really messed it up. Setting the scale to 100% fixed it and its worked fine ever since.

Very true, although I altered a setting and it now boots at 800mhz so it's a tad lower, useful when overclocking.
