2700x holding back 6800XT?

Im not up together on amd gpus as been using nvidia for years now, but my old 3800x DID hold back my old 3060ti, as soon as i upgraded the cpu to the 5800x3d i noticed a big performance boost in all the games i play

but thats the same for the 5800x, going to a gaming CPU 5800x3d made a massive difference
Yeah, for ages ive always upgraded the gpu first, i honestly didnt expect the 5800x3d to make such a massive difference, but it did, its awesome lol when i had my 3060ti i couldnt believe how much more i was getting out of it from upgrading to the cpu.

Now ive just got the 4070 and couldnt be happier gaming away at 1440p, tbh i didnt really have to upgrade as was playing everything well over 60fps at high settings, but couldnt resist and now im getting more out of my 165hz monitor :)

I run a 6800xt with a 5800x3d but that was an upgrade from a 3700x, however i also play at 3440x1440 at 100hz.

Depending on the game the 3700x can bottleneck the 6800xt even at my resolution, it all depends what you are happy with. The 5800x3d was a noticable upgrade but as long as you're not bothered about constantly chasing frames the 3700x will provide a reasonable experience especially compared to the 2700.

If your brother games at high refresh rate then yes, he'll definitely notice the minimum low framerates but if he play's locked @60fps then he might get away with it.

I've installed the 3700x and it made a big difference. Now I have picked up a 5600x and I'm wondering if it's worth switching them out? If you could express the performance difference between the 2 as a percentage, what would you all think? It's for 1080p 165Hz.

If the difference isn't too significant, then I'll just upgrade my nephew's PC with the 5600x as my brother probably CBA with the hassle of upgrading so soon again - he missed his PC!

For context, his GPU is 6800XT.

TIA for any advice/opinions.

The 5600x is about 10% more FPS over 3700x plus or minus depending on game but I would definitely take the 5600x for your pc to get the best out of your 6800xt.

You will also get slightly better low 1% FPS when frames dip in demanding situations making it slightly smoother.

If you have it, fit it.. it’s better .

The 1% lows will be a Lot better in my view there is no reason not to fit it.

How many CPU’s do you have now… you could sell them and grab a 5800x3d.
