Hi,

Are my temps too high?

2700x stock speeds with stock cooler.

Running aida64 and max temp was 88.8 tdie and 98.8 tctl

Tried to overclocking it to 4000hz at 1.27v and was stable but temps were going right up to the 90s and would have gone to 100 I think if I hadn't have stopped aid

Normal? Is the stock cooler that bad?

Cheers

The stock cooler is pretty good, never managed to push mine that high with prime95 with the stock cooler, stock clocks. What's your case, what fans, how's the airflow?

If you were already going high before clocking, what did you expect when you clocked?

EDIT - Those are high temps though, but unlikely to reach that gaming etc.

It's in a kolink Observatory case. 3 intake fans at the front and 1 exhaust fan at the back.

I am using TG Kryonaut paste too so definitely would have thought it would be better than this

The front panel of the case is glass right? Then thin grill? Mesh? Filter? Round the edges?

What are the fans? That small space looks like it would produce quite a bit of resistance.

How long does it take you to get upto those high temps? Is it within a minute or two, or builds up over 10 minutes?

If it gets there quickly, then maybe seating, if it takes a few minutes, it suggests the whole case is heating up, and feeding hot air back into the cooler, which obviously means it won't cool as well.

And you've got the fan curve setup to go full speed?

The case looks like it barely lets any air in through the front with that grill on the sides, you'd need some good fans to pull good flow through that. So first up I'd reckon that'll cause issues.

However, if it goes that high, that quickly, I would guess maybe it's not sitting correctly, because it shouldn't get that high, that quick.

I'm going to reseat it now. The case is crap. Can't control the fan speed and also the fans are useless.

Anybody recommend a decent case for airflow around the same cost as this?

The Silverstone RL06 is a decent, reasonably cheap high airflow case. Can be had for £70-80 right now depending on colour. Pretty much anything with a full mesh front will work, given that you're then reliant on how good your fans are and their speed for the most part.

Yeah but then the fans are there to touch. Have young kids so can't have it like that .

You can pick up some mesh filters for the fans for a quid or so each, like these:

Will improve air flow dramatically, will still look good, and you won't have to shell out for a new case along with all the hassle of rebuilding.
