I am after a 28" monitor. I will be gaming on it and watching movies. My budget is £150 though. Help! Ta

At £150 you limit yourself to very few monitors in the size you're requesting. On ************, only the BenQ GW2760HS is highlighted when I set £150 as max. Obviously a lot more monitors are opened up at £200, but you'll most likely only be getting a TN panel.

** No Competitors **

Second-hand-wise, I'm sure the world's your oyster but then you have possible defects to worry about (even more so than brand new).

I'd save up more. I mean, it depends how low your standards are, but £150 really doesn't get you very much. TN is scraping the barrel as it is, nevermind £150! Trawling second hand ads you might get lucky, but inherent risk there as pointed out.

My old model was TN. Was fine for me.

Well at your budget there really isn't much choice anyway at 28"... but this is at least VA...

More options at 27", but again at that price point all much of a muchness. A VA panel would be preferable over TN for movies due to superior black levels. Ghosting can be an issue with VA in games, but it varies monitor to monitor, and is also game dependent.

TN better for gaming then? And movies, VA because of the blacks?

If the VA panel doesn't have any ghosting issues, then I'd prefer that because of the better colour and blacks. Failing that though, TN might be preferable, depending on what games you play. Ghosting doesn't bother everyone, and all monitors vary. You'd really have to try it out to see. For video/movie watching though, VA all the way. If I planned to do ANY movie watching on a monitor, I wouldn't even consider TN, it's too washed out on the majority of panels. Some more expensive models do OK, but at your price point they won't fare well.

Ok. Thanks
