290/290x VS 970

I think overclocking to that level is not a good idea with the op psu so i think 390 is a good choice.

:confused::eek:

The R9 390 is very likely to be more power hungry than a 970 to the Ops PSU.

When under stress, even its baby brother (R9 380) draws 234W which is only 9W less than a 970!

A 390X draws 363W under stress conditions compared to 243W for a 970.

970 is still gonna be more power efficient than a 390 or 390X! :D

Well right now it's really a toss up between a AMD 390 and a NVIDIA 970. Both looks great for the £250 or so price point, but I'm slightly leaning towards the 390 for the 8GB VRAM (as I'm also looking to get a Dell U2515H/1440p monitor). It really seems like the only choice since of the 970's 3.5 limit, or am I exaggerating?
