290 occasional BF4 crashing

Cheers I'll try all that tonight, I think I ran valley but I'm not sure what settings.

I lost my overclock settings when I rebuilt so that could be the problem, for some reason the stock voltage was higher and I had to lower my offset which seemed odd. I'll check event viewer later and keep an eye on it around any game crashes.

Any crashes since you tried my tips?

I only played 1 round Matt, so it's not fair to say if if worked. I can sometimes go several rounds with no issues and sometimes it happens frequently. I have kept the settings though and after a good session tonight I'll let you know :)

Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. :)

:) on a plus note the water cooling looks great, I'll have to take some pictures when I've tidied the cabling a bit. It would be great if they put more side ports on motherboards like they do with sata so it's easier to make it look neat.

Pics are always appreciated.

To see if it's BF4 or the driver give Valley a go.

Run it on Extreme and tell it to Benchmark

If it crashes running Valley it's the driver crashing and you may need to move the voltage up a few more notches.

If Valley runs fine, it's probably just the game, from what I've heard BF4 is meant to be getting some big patches this month so it can support Mantle.

Valley runs fine, just going to do a clean driver install and see how i get on with some minor voltage adjustments.

BF4 and crashing is a messed up one - for the first 2 weeks after release while everyone was complaining about crashing mine was rock solid stable then just as I was saying how stable it was for me it started crashing left, right and center :| now it seems sporadic sometimes I can go a whole evening before it malfunctions other times only 5 minutes for an hour or 2 then it'll be back to "normal" for no apparent reason.

Unless your getting frequent DX Errors, visual artifacts or BSOD while playing the problem with BF4 is almost certainly NOT your system stability.

Sounds like it's just Betafield 4 which is crashing then, hold out for the patches mid-end of January, they should hopefully fix the crash issue and enable Mantle.

Looked in windows event viewer to see what it crashed on? Bf4 will push the CPU more than most games, worth looking for any whea warnings/errors in event viewer

Checked event viewer and there are whea errors starting from the 1st of this year which is probably when it started happening. Confirmed i get whea erros while playing BF4, i setup a warning to let me know when i get them.

I migt drop my overclock back to 4.5 as i increased it to 4.6 back end of last year and see if this stops the errors.

edit: ran prime for 20 mins nothing showed up @4.6 though.

edit: valley passed fine, i bumped it up to 1100 on stock volts and it passed that too. crapped out at 1150 though :D need moar volts!

Valley max oc on stock volts 1100/1500 +50% power limit, it will actually do more on the memory but the score lowers.

Safe to say i think the card is alright, and due to the whea errors theres a chance it could be my overclock but is most likely just the game itself based on the amount of other people who have these sort of issues :(
