2900 Pro & 2900XT Crossfire?

My opinion here, correct me if i'm wrong. The 3870xt has a default core clock of 775mhz, My Gigabyte 3870/overclocked 3850 has a default clock of 780mhz which I have pushed up to 850mhz. The 3850 has a default clock of 668mhz so an overclock of 182mhz is a big ask of any 3850?

Also it is reported by GPU-Z as a 3870 with the following core RV670xt if that clears anything up. (not sure if the 3850 and 3870 have the same core)

Well off topic but interesting none the less.

the 3850s have been to over 1000MHz on the core, so 775MHz isnt very hard, especially as the 3870 bios uses .1v more than the 3850 bios

Fair play, essentially what your saying is that the 3870 and 3850 are the same cards using slightly different bios' and voltage.

1000 Core! I know nothing's guaranteed with overclocking, but it's at least nice to know they don't only use speed binned GPUs on 3850s :D. 3850 512MB crossfire is looking really good to me at the moment :p

get the ocuk 3850 512 cards, they use a 3850 bios thats set to the 3870 voltage, and the stock cooler is ace

Does anyone have any pictures of the OcUK 3850? What cooler does it use? I'm sure the gecube one with heatpipes is better?

Does anyone think it would be worth starting a thread on the 3800 Series differences? like manufacturers, clock speeds, ram types, voltages and heatsinks, bioses, and what you get in the box?

I might just get those OCUK 3850s depending on how long that free delivery offer lasts for (will be ordering 28th Feb) :D

:D Cooler looks pretty cool! I'm just hoping they'll clock decently. Are there any methods of changing the volts other than the pencil mod? Does ATi tool only let you change volts of a 2900? I don't mind doing a pencil mod but if there's a software way I know which I'd rather do :p

software way only changes the 2d volts on a 2900. theres no software volts for the 3800 series yet....

Ahh, oh well, Guess it's pencil mods for me :p, although, are there any 3850 BIOSes i could flash it with that have a higher V?
