2900pro 512bit Interface Confirmed.....by HIS

Wait until tomorrow at least mate ;) I will be posting some quick benchies and responses with a review tomorrow! Similar to the 8800GTS 320MB one I did months and months ago :)
Im really happy at 2 things, its 512mb of ram which will make a difference, it can clock to XT speeds, apparently and I get episode 2 for nowt :D as well as others haha!

will look forward to your benchies monies waiting for one of these if are good if not its a 8800

All dependent on delivery times ;) I will have it up tomorrow for definate from anytime from 3pm to 8pm! Gonna sort out my games etc and record a few benchmarks, probably using fraps or something to see how it does!

I think i'll break 10k in 3D Mark 06 and hopefully these beta drivers in XP will help do that!

I will also test some DX10 stuff as I have Vista and XP so Bioshock, Call of Juarez and also World in Conflict are sitting about waiting to have a wee go of too!

Max Res I will be testing at is only 1280x1024 but i think the card will be ideal at this resolution that is for sure!

Benchmarking Titles:
3D Mark 06
3D Mark 05(if people request it)
Quake Wars Enemy Territory Demo
World In Conflict DX9,10
Bioshock DX9,10
Medal of Honor: Airborne
Call of Juarez DX10(no point in 9 here really)
Oblivion(Must Install)
Half-Life 2 Episode 1

I think that should be fairly comprehensive! Il just be adding the scores as I go tho! So if its only a few to start with its cos im having too much fun playign with them! :D

I don't understand the excitement around this product at all, it was disapointing enough to see 2900XT performing worse then a card released almost 10 months ago and now they release a slower version, yes it's cheap and can overclock but the so is/can the 8800GTS 320MB. .

All the best jrodga2k5. I hope it puts a big shmile on yer face m8 ;).

Shocky-FM - We know, you've told us a thousand times already. It's getting boring now. Let the card get released and see how it does. It's only £170 :p. No need to crap on the thread.

Well thats probably because you can afford to buy a gtx. For other people
who can't afford it or chose not to this card represents very good
performance at a very low price. Think of it this way this card will be nearly
half the price of a gtx but certainly won't be half the frame rates especially
with a nice overclock on it. As for the gts 320 that has been answered in a lot
of threads it simply dosen't have the memory for future games but this card does.

Thanx for all your advice guys over the Q6600 much appreciated, hope i have made the right choice with this card as i was going to order a 8800gts but for the price it seems like a bargain (i hope)

Thats possible but so far performance of the 320mb version is bascially the same as the 640mb in most games even at high resolutions, there are some exeptions but it's hard to tell if it's actually memory limited or driver bugs but I guess time will tell.

Anyway we really need some new high end cards to force these into the mid range catigory as thats really what they are. A bit sad that we still are seing "high end" cards released now that perform like a 7950GX2 but with DX10 support. :(

Well I sold my 320MB GTS eventually due to going on holiday and thought lets have a go with this card! It has more ram which could be beneficial later on in its lifespan and the ATi cards seem to be getting better under every release of new drivers! I'll tell you what though, my HD2600XT surprised me A LOT under the 7.10betas! Performance on the whole has increased and Bioshock from a struggle under High detail in the 7.9's is now playable with the 7.10's! ATi will get this right and i'm sure a few optimisations come Crysis time and the cards will show their worth!

We all know this already though is that ATi have pretty much nailed DX9 as many people have said from the benchmarks! :) Also this is technically a downclocked 2900xt so if I can match the XT speeds bargain!

I agree with TheRealDeal. When you consider the price-performance ratio then it definitely stands up as a worthy purchase, well, at least myself and others shall find out in the coming weeks, although the general consensus is that it's going to be a viable purchase anyway. Plus, considering the potential of overclocking and ATI driver improvements, it might prove to be an enviable acquisition when they are no longer in stock!

They are high mid range though. High end is GTX/Ultra. High mid range is 2900XT, 8800GTS, 2900Pro. ATI messed up big time this round for the king of the hill but with the top end cards being a very small percentage for graphic card sales it's not a major blow to ATI now or Nvidia in the past as it's not the king of the hill graphics that make the company money.

Nvidia might even get bored with waiting on ATI and release their next top end card. Who knows?.

There still high end, simalar price range as the 8800GTS 320MB but I agree I would also class anything below the GTX/Ultra as mid range

I hope they do release a new high end card as my OC'ed GTX is just not fast enough anymore with these new games.

jrodga2k5, looking forward to seeing your review. I'm quite interested in these cards.

Will, I thought you had a 2900XT in your sig, going for green? :D.

I thought people were saying the 2900xt was performing good now against a 8800gts and seeing as these should clock too the same speed its a good price, have i just made a huge **** up ordering the 2900 pro over a 8800gts 320 ?

Jabbs, I don't think so. Time will tell but a review has already said they managed 750/900 on these Pros and that is above the stock speeds of an XT. I'd say you've grabbed yourself a bargain if that statement holds true.

Only just above the clocks of an xt. They are missing vivo features as well I think which helps lower the cost :)

I wouldn't call it a **** up but 8800GTS 320MB can overclock to near 8800GTX performance usually BUT can be let down by lack of memory or driver issues related to memory although these are rare.
