recently got a 2900xt and after finding out it needs 2x6 pin power cables to run at full speed {ccc limits clock and mem if detects 1x 6 pin } i ordered a extra 6 pin cable.
now when i view the clocks in Everest , they are still reporting the clocks at half speed , something which ati tool likes to call 'default speeds' , not happy, as default speeds should be 745 gpu 825 mem, so when i clock the speeds back up with ati tool , everest reports a 45% overclock and everything should be fine, until i quit ati tool and the speeds return to half again.
it looks like ati drivers are forcing the half speeds for some reason. i cant hold any clock change with ati tool. and my pcie bus is at x8.
before i put in the extra power cable, ccc would give me a message saying my card has not enough power and my clock speeds have been cut down , that message has gone. the power cable is connected fine.
also i have reinstalled the drivers. no change.
can anyone shed some light?
thanks
