Hey all,

Just a quick question, can you run a 2900xt 512mb and a 2900xt 1gb in crossfire or do they both need to be either 2 x 512 or 2 x 1gb ?

Thanks

as far as im aware, in crossfire as long as they are the same family you can fun anything in crossfire.

eg, 2900xt + 2600

you cant do 2900 + 1900.

best to be confirmed by someone though.

I think it would just run off the lower of the 2, ie 512mb

Prob wrong, but i heard someone saying that they had an X1950pro 512mb and a X1950pro 256mb in crossfire and it used the lesser of the 2.

thanks for the replies guys

so i wont be crossfiring those.

just one other question

so would 1 card of 2900xt 1gb be better than 2 x 512mb cards?

cheers

No, the 1gb 2900 is just a total waste, its only 2-3fps at a push faster than the 512mb 2900, and 1gb gives no benefit at all as its not needed, either get the 512mb 2900 and save £60+ on those couple of frames, or buy the much faster 8800 GTX for the same price as the 1gb 2900. :)
