290x displaying as a 290?

I bought another 290x to crossfire with my existing 290x. The brand of the new one is VTX3D.

In afterburner the card is displayed as AMD Radeon R9 290 Series. Where as my msi is displayed as MSI R9 290X Series.

Have I been sold the wrong card? Is there any other way to check if it is a 290 and not a 290x? Thanks.
 
Check GPU-Z to see how many stream processors/shaders the card has. 290X should have 2.816, if its a 290 it will have 2.560 I think.
