This is all going in an Evolv X when they are out. Just wondering if anyone has any comments particularly on the RAM, should I swap it out for:
2x DARK PRO 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHZ DUAL CHANNEL KIT - BLACK/GREY (TDPGD416G3)

AMD - Threadripper 2950X 3.5GHz 16-Core Processor
Noctua - NH-U12S TR4-SP3 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Gigabyte - X399 AORUS XTREME EATX TR4 Motherboard
Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 Memory

already own:
EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB SC2 HYBRID GAMING Video Card
SeaSonic - PRIME Platinum 1300W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

When i did my research for my build a few weeks back the consensus was if you want trouble free operations RAM wise then buy a quad channel kit straight away and not buy 2 x dual channel kits. They might work but you then it might not, you could have stability issues. So why take the risk when Overclockers do a nice 8 pack quad channel kits.

Seems oc3d also have a board for review

If you want all 8 dimms populated with RGB. Aorus ram is Samsung B-Die

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,086.95 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Avoiding RGB, also Samsung B-Die and tighter timings

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,046.96 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Believe the x299 Xtreme looks the same as x399 version inline for new Intel cores but guessing they cost a BOMB!

If you just gaming... 3700X and flagship X470 will save a pretty penny !!!

I would not pay that must for the gigabyte aorus motherboard,

it might be best to buy the new MEG MSI creation OR ASUS extreme boards if they are all at the same price points. The gigabyte board required good cooling in a case to keep cool from the reviews i saw.

It's cooler then the Asus which fails, and you have ask for a little fan kit to stick on it instead of them releasing an updated version haha.
Meg is a beast though ! Just lack of UK RMA for a very expensive board

My worry with MSI is bios updates etc had some bad experiences previously with them dragging their heels getting them out, minor point but can get the Aorus cheaper just now too so it's a bit of a no brainer tbh

do what you feel conformable with . unfortunately not one vendor is the best nor the worst haha but some people do jump for visuals or performance and stick for service, bios etc

When i was speccing out a tr build i was looking at the first build orbital specced above for the looks alone.

Two full banks of rgb ram either side of the cpu socket looks so good.

Very nice. Quite possibly a similar build to me when I next upgrade. I'd probably lean towards a mobo which is highly regarded where power phases are concerned (OTTOMH Zenith/Taichi?).

Had no issues so far power wise as it's not a WX chip so doesn't have an insane power requirement in general. Only thing I'm now 100% happy with is the CPU cooler (Noctua fans are horrible looking) but I'm more of a "how well does it work" person than aesthetics.

Meg is the best for power in general just now though, but I got the Aorus on special so it was almost £100 cheaper than the Meg at the time.

Final spec changed somewhat as I was picking up deals to keep the cost down where I could and ended up ordering from 6 different suppliers.

CPU: AMD - Threadripper 2950X 3.5GHz 16-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua AMD Threadripper NH-U14S TR4 SP3 (with additional Noctua NF-A15 PWM fan for push/pull) - will replace fans or cooler when I find something I prefer but this does work very
Motherboard: Gigabyte - X399 AORUS XTREME EATX TR4 Motherboard
RAM: G-Skill Flare X 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Memory Module, F4 3200 °C14Q 32GFX (currently running 14-14-14-30)
GPU:EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB SC2 HYBRID GAMING Video Card
PSU: Seasonic PRIME Ultra Gold 1000W
Case: Evolv X Silver
Storage: 1x Samsung 970 PRO 1 TB V-NAND M.2, 1x 2TB Western Digital WDS200T2B0B WD Blue M.2 (one M.2 still free)
LCD (in PSU shroud): LCDSysInfo 3.5

Not the best picture but gives an idea:

LCDSysInfo 3.5

Running overlay which links into HWInfo64

It's a slightly modified default simple white profile, although I've changed it a bit more now

It's great, good for games and editing tbh although I have just left all cores on and enabled PBO, seems to do a decent job managing itself

Nice, I bet it's super smooth. :)

I can't wait to get my TR. Hopefully, this year, if not, sometime early in the new year (fingers crossed).

Yes but do you NEED 32 threads? Are you just a gamer looking for the E-peen to crush all other E-peen? (in that case get a 2080Ti).
If you're just gaming, and you want to actually get bang for your buck, wait for the i9 9900K get a 2080Ti and a bunch of blazing fast M.2 storage and be happy. JM2C.

I'm not a dedicated gamer, more than half my time is spent video editing and running VM labs etc. So yes I make use of those threads given my background in infosec and my hobby of video editing. That doesn't mean I don't game, which I do but much less than I use to and typically older games like Insurgency / Rimworld.

Previously I was trying to do this on an i5 3570K with 8GB RAM..
