right guys im having this REALLY annoying problem while playing Crysis... i play on Very High Detail with 2xAA at 1600x1200... but the shadows flicker in the distance e.g. bushes trees etc.. sometimes the far distance trees rocks flicker in and out???

anyone els have this problem how did they managed to solve it?? also is this a card problem??? im running good temps around 75oc when playing and Framerates are at around 40+ my graphics card drivers are 182.06...

p.s. im running it in windows vista 64 bit...

...

the card can chew crisis up but the shadows flicker for some reason i think it might be a software issue... need some advice...

[edit] also what do you reccomend as the best drivers for the 295 gtx?? i heard the 182.06 were the most stable although old...

186.18 WHQL were very good for me, with my SLI'd 260-216s.

Also, uh, some pop-in might be unavoidable regardless of what drivers you use; do you have texture streaming turned off?

I would try different drivers to see if this fixes the problem. The 186 drivers seem to be the best so give the 186.18 rapido is using a try first as a lot of new users seem to rate the 186 drivers as the best.

Run #1- DX9 1900x1200 AA=4x, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 52.625
The above was using official Nvidia Driver 185.85 Overall Average FPS: 52.625

I've just done the same bench using the official Nvidia Driver 186.18 Overall Average FPS: 35.25

Conclusion:

Nvidia Driver 186.18 is a crap driver for Crysis. :(

That figure looks like single-card performance; maybe SLI isn't working when you use it. My two 260-216s give me 57 frames in the DX10 version of that benchmark, 1680 resolution.

Horses for courses, but even a reeeally bad driver shouldn't see performance just implode like that.

In the test you quoted it was running in DX9 mode. I assume yours is DX10?
Yes did both benchmarks exactly the same but using different drivers.

What I installed Nvidia Driver 185.85 it was a fresh install, when I installed 186.18 I just installed over the 185.85

I think I'll remove the Nvidia Drivers then use Driver Sweep 2 in safe mode then reinstall 186.18 see what the results are, I shall report back, I might try the very latest drivers also but hear their not very good.

It's definitly the drivers 186.18 isnt good at all for the original Crysis.

Sticking with 185.85 seems to be the best driver for me.
