2990X Threadripper Performance Regression FIXED on Windows*

On a side note, overclocking my 2600 is impractical due to a **** gigabyte bios. The gains are not worth it compared to the increased power draw. Vdroop on this board is horrendous.

One of the builds I did used the Gigabyte X370-Gaming 3 - I can't remember the names of the options off the top of my head but I just enabled a couple of things in the advanced options - no actual manual overclocking - and it was boosting to around 4GHz (409xMHz) without any significant impact on power draw, etc. and nothing out of the ordinary voltage wise. The included cooler didn't seem to have an issue either even though supposedly it is downrated compared to the previous included one.

with a 2600 non x? My current board will boost to 3.9 on its own. It would go higher with the host clock trick but sadly Gigabyte has chosen to disable host clock controls as well and just show it like a taunt to your face.

Yeah non-X I can't remember what the settings were off the top of my head under performance enhancements though.

ahh that stinks.. would have loved to know.. but at least that gives me something to scourer the bios for in hopes of finding some extra bit of performance.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with it - far more often build Intel systems - but it was fairly obvious to find the settings (I'm assuming it was precision boost and XFR but the naming was different) - which board do you have?

I got the Gigabyte B450 Auros M and the only thing right now that springs to mind is an option called Core Performance Boost which is on.

Ah not upto speed with it but seem to remember reading the GB 450 boards don't have matured support for the boost features, etc. while the 300 series boards use a different system.
