2D shoot em ups

Hi, do you guys (n gals) know of any 2D shoot em ups for the PC.
Something in the Gradius R-Type mold, there must be some classics floating around somewhere but I have yet to find any.

Gradius IV on PS2 was awesome and i yearn for some more since MY PS2 broke

Might have trouble getting it running though as IIRC it was a DOS only game.

Sorry, yeah. I noticed my error after you mentioned that. I looked straight at Duke Nukem and assumed Duke3D.

When I think about 2d games, look for a SNES console and try and get Contra and Metriod Prime.

I think theres also a Halo sidescroller thats been released if youd be interested in that.

Raptor was immense as well (call of the shadows?). Also, does anyone know of a vertical shooter along those lines with something to do with tiger in it? Me and a mate have been searching for it for years but can't remember the title. Something with tiger...?
