Yo guys. I'm putting together my new system (E6600 - overclocked quite a bit!) and I'm going to stretch my budget to either:

1) 2GB RAM
2) 2 x 74GB Raptors in RAID
3) 1 x 150GB Raptor

Which is going to give me the greatest performance boost in general windows/browsing/gaming?

I'm leaning towards option 2 but not sure.

Cheers

Depends on the primary purpose of the system, but I'd much rather have the 2GB RAM and one 74GB raptor or similar drive than 1GB ram and the other drives.

edit: you might consider getting a e6300/6400 and going for both the 2gb ram and the 150gb raptor :)

Raptors in RAID dont actually add that much performance it has ben reported on here previously.

Personally go with 2GB RAM minimum (or did you mean an extra 2GB ram, in which case I wouldnt bother)

2GB RAM, standard 7200RPM hard drive. If you need a faster boot drive (which I doubt) get a raptor later.

7200rpm drives are fast, I think people buy Raptors just for bragging rights. Hard drives are now fast, it's not like in the past SCSI versus IDE non DMA.
