Windows 32bit is limited to 4GB for the entire system memory. This includes memory on the graphics card etc.
So, say you have a GFX card with 1GB of memory, that allows only 3GB max to be used of system RAM.
Not strictly true, you can run a 4870X2 with 4GB on a 32bit OS and still have around 3.25GB free. This has been soon in similar threads, still don't quite understand it though![]()

Just to finish this post I upgraded to win7 64bit
System now shows I have 4+GB of memory..... very happy
