Well, as title really. I have an SLI motherboard so Crossfire is out of the question.

How do you think a 7600GT SLI rig would perform compared to a single X1800XT 256?

Cheers,

King.

PS: Damn you gibbo for offering that card at such a low price ;)

The reviews I've read show that two 7600gts in SLi perform somewhere between a single 7900gt and a single 7900gtx (though closer to the gtx than the gt). That's going to probably put it in the ball park of a moderately overclocked X1800XT. I'd guess that the 7600gts would probably perform better in anything SLi optimised and particularly in nvidia friendly games (quake 4 and Doom 3), but the X1800XT would quite likely be cooler and quieter and perform almost as well in most things and better in some. Both options should overclock quite well but if you could sell you 7600gt for say £80-£100 then you are spending less than a ton rather than £130 or whatever it is for a new 7600gt.

The only other factor is how much you want to get into ATI drivers and overclocking and monitoring tools. But then again that might well be less hassel than setting up a second card in SLi.
