Ok so i have my card in the top #1 pci slot but after a new problem with my computer randomly going to black screen and saying no signal and me having to restart my pc i wanted to try the bottom slot and see what happens. plug it all in correctly powered up pc and screen says no signal. uninstalled all drivers then tried again and its the same thing (no signal) but works fine in top slot.

any way of make the second/bottom slot work?

many thanks

what motherboard?

You could have a poke around in the bios and see if there are any settings in there that might help you?

If you've tried both slots then there's good chance the card is dead

***.

Seen this happen before in a build that was old. The pci slot that hadnt been used for a while had gotten a fair buildup of dust in it. A good blast of air sorted it.

Yeah i think i read that somewhere else that it could be a build up of dust in the slot but i used a compressed air can to clean the pc before trying the other slot and even used it in the slot.

il try it again but im sure i made sure it was clean.

thanks though

Now this could be abit odd but i change the hdmi cable and it worked for abit but then crashed (black screen) once but after that it hasnt done it. so i went out and brought a new dvi-d cable and im using that now and played a few games for about 1-3 hours and no crashes as of yet.
but if anyone knows about how to use the bottom card slot would be great.

thanks a lot for the replys and help.

Theres an option in the gigabyte boards to select your primary gpu, it gives you an option for onboard or one of the pcie slots. If you dont select the right one you just get no signal using any of the other slots.

I dont know if its the same for MSI though unfortunately as ive used gigabyte for my last few boards and asus before that.
