Hi guys, thanks for continued support :)

So, I just tried booting in Primary slot under Gen2. I also set the computer to boot from the PCIe slots. But same issue, wont boot whilst in the Primary slot under any Gen version. It just initialises the HD4000 inbuilt graphics in this scenario.

When I initially bought this GPU, I remember trying it in my old AMD 3.2 phenom BE board, socket AM3. And it didn't boot with it either.

Which prompted me to buy all this extra hardware which I probably didn't really need. The GPU was the only piece of hardware I initially wanted to upgrade.

But then I added, new CPU, new memory, board etc. And still have the same issue. So then RMA'd the card, and was told it was fine. Maybe it is fine, but from some very very strange and rare reason, it doesn't like something or some component in my system.

The GPU does seem to run at x16 pcie 2.0 in my brothers socket AM2 board.

But ive only had two different PCIe 3.0 enabled boards to try it on, and its never worked while paired with the rest of my setup.

Ideally I need to go to a local PC shop and see if I can test another core i5/i7 with my gpu and see what happens.

I'm leaning toward there just being something up with my GPU. As the Nvidia card worked fine with my CPU.

Thanks

Yes :)

My 7950 does basically the same thing with the power plugged in as a 4870 (my old card) does with the power cables disconnected, monitor flashes and cant find a source.

I really need access to another ivybridge pcie 3.0 compatible cpu really. Just to determine once and for all that the gpu is dud for whatever reason

Have you tried updating the BIOS?

Stelly

Yes, tried all the latest BIOS's for both motherboard and gpu.

No change, tried a custom bios from MSI themselves, no change.
Its just a strange incompatibility anomaly!

Wazza, I spoke to 'Kahboom' from overclock.net who basically writes BIOS's for the HIS 7950 and he said I cant flash it with a BIOS from another card, even if its the same model.

Not sure why :S

Hey guys, anyone got a i5/i7 I can troubleshoot with? Don't mind travelling.

Or can anyone recommend an independent retailer where I can visit and troubleshoot?

Herts based if possible

Cheers
