I recently built a PC with windows 7 64bit and an SSD hard drive, however today I put in a standard hard drive 500gb sata 3 and its not being recognised.

What would I need to do for windows to recognise this? Am I right that it needs to be populated? If so what are the steps to have this hard drive shown so I can save to it seperatly from the SSD?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Right click on 'Computer', select manage and then click on Disk Management.

You should have an unallocated drive.

Right click on the unallocated space to format the drive and assign a drive letter.

this, also if you want to partition it, this is the place to do it, eg. 2 x 250gb
