2nd HD -internal or external?

I want to add an additional HD to run Win7 from (using XP at present) There is no room in the case for a 3 1/2 SATA but space in a 5 1/4 bay. So should I buy mounting brackets and keep it internal or buy an external and a e-SATA card. This is mainly for the OS. Any other options?

i would go for an external if i was you saves messong around with the case, and an external is a separate power sourse

If you want an extra hard drive for the OS (Windows 7) an internal would be your best best.
Can you stretch to a SSD?

+1 for internal, you don't want a permanently connected external HD running the OS when the cat or a clumsy friend knocks it off the desk!
