So a few months ago my AMD Fury kicked the bucket and I needed to RMA it with Overclockers. I got a fairly quick replacement within a few days and all was well.

Well 2 days ago I started getting green squares when opening 3d applications or games. I tried reseating the GPU, changing PCI-E ports, removing the drivers and re-installing them and all the other usual steps to try to isolate the issue, however it is still broken.

I called Overclockers this morning and they opened an RMA, however they've said they'll be sending it back to XFX and it could take up to 28 days and that the AMD Fury's are no longer in stock and end of life. See the problem here is not only do I have no money to replace the GPU with a temporary one, but that I use my PC for work (specifically game development), gaming and it is the primary and only source of anything to do at home. So you see if I take the GPU out and send it off I will be without a computer (and without anything to do) for a month. I asked my boss if this was OK and he laughed, said we are in crunch (and have the Kickstarter campaign coming up in 2 weeks so the whole team is working 7 days a week) as when I told overclockers about this they didn't seem concerned. I have no idea what to do and could use some advice.

No advise is going to help, i'm afraid .

OcUK won't lend you one whilst the RMA goes through - so you'll have to buy a 2nd hand one.

I find it hard to believe that you can't scrape a couple of hundred quid together - The spec in your signature is worth thousands !

I had saved up over quite a long period of time in addition to selling my older rig to find this one. I'm not a rich or well off guy especially in this day and age (the weakening of the pound has really hit home for me) so just magically coming up with a couple hundred quid isn't as easy as you make it out to be. I'm currently £20 over my overdraft and I have all my bills coming out in a few days so I'm not in the position to spend any money. If it was up to me I'd have sold my AMD Fury (have you seen the 2nd hand market prices recently!?) and gotten myself a better GPU.

I take it when you say you use the PC for game development that means you actually require a high end card to test said games and that means using a low end card in the meantime is a no go?

If the info is any use, if you have a Paypal account you can activate the Paypal credit option on it, that will allow you to spend up to £1200 (IIRC) on credit and if you buy something over £150 you get 0% interest on it for four months, so in effect you could buy a high end replacement that way if needed, then sell the Fury RMA when that arrives, then pay off the difference and it would all have worked out as an interest free loan.

I will try this now thanks for the suggestion.

edit: It just says it can't offer me to it at this time. I will try again later today.

I went through this a couple of months back at a Fury X, went back to OCUK and then they send it back to Saphire. All in took nearly 6 weeks from the date I posted it off and then they said it was replaceable followed by that stock was no longer available. So in that case they offer a cash refund - but only a part refund due to length of ownership. Thankfully i had an older car to pop in to keep things ticking over but can appreciate it's not an easy situation.

How long have you owned this card for? Will make a difference on how much they offer you back.

I take it the AMD platform doesn't have built in GFX?

Can you use a finance option?
If I had a spare, I'd offer to lend it but unfortunately I don't.

Can you not explain this to OCUK and ask them to lend you something?

I have a really bad credit rating and as a result I always fail those credit check things they do. Also the motherboard I have (x370 Carbon Pro with AMD R7 1800X) has a HDMI and DVI port on the back but the pc doesn't work without a GPU in it for some reason? I asked Overclockers about this and they said those won't work with my CPU

What are your legs like? :D

Joking aside, you must know someone who can loan you a GPU, if not you're current situation sounds quite dire with less than no money, inability to pass a credit check and absolutely no-one who can loan you a card. Sell some of the existing hardware to cover a used card? As pointed out if you have the ability to save up to pay for the spec in your sig, you'll be able to re-buy newer/better hardware once the kickstarter is successful surely? If not you're seemingly in a world of hurt.
