My 2TB Western Digital green died, so needs replacing. I was going to just replace with 2 of the same, before I do though, few questions.
Anything better? Looking around for the price, there doesn't seem to be much choice. It's either them or a Seagate and a lot seem to say the Seagate drivers are noisy. What happened to all the other drive manufacturers?
Do the greens still have the head parking thing. I know on the one that died it would constantly park the heads after a short amount of time, which caused people some concern at the time and it could be adjusted with a tool so they would only park after a long period of no activity. Still the case? Or do they only do it after a longer period by default now.
Raid question. Getting a pair a sticking them in RAID-1 (I think), this is a complete mirror? So if one drive fails, everything is on the other? No need to do any manual backups?
Thanks.
