i have 2 hd3870x2 in crossfire mode well did have intill 20 mins ago now have only 1 card showing in devices and a solid red light on the offending card crossfire is now not a option in overdrive .i have reinstalled drivers and ccc.any ideas?

none of the above worked ,anything eles before i give it the hammer test?
Does that mean that the offending card does not power up on its own?

If that's the case then i'd RMA it as it sounds like a failure.

Beyond that it should work. Your PSU's more than capable of running it.

gt

Edit: are the X2's watercooled aswell?

the offending card is watercooled, and the other on air(waiting 2wks for ek waterblock out of stock}and the other card run with the cables the other card was on so even thoe the red light is on i dont think itspower even thoe the card isint getting slightly warm

So one card works whilst the other doesn't, when tried on their own?
If thats the case then its obviously a card problem, and by the sound of it its the water-cooled one that doesn't work. Any leaks?

yep one card works on both sets of cables 8pin 6 pin the water cooled one that dosent work has no leak.someone said the red light on the card mean no power or lack off it but it don't work on its own or with different cables.

I suppose the light might also signify failure.

Maybe the waterblock has crushed a component - possibly one of the ram chips maybe?

Beyond that, damage from static discharge or a water leak is the best bet. It's difficult to know. :(

it had been working sweet for a month with water block on before this just put stock cooler back on and can see no damage and defo no leaks.how many time you think should hit with hammer:{

Red light on the board deffo means lack of power, there should be two lights on the board, one near the 6pin and one near the 8pin, whichever one is lit up means there is a lack of power on that connector.

cheers hex i have to card s in crossfire so ive use the cables that work on the other card on this card and on its own, theres 3 lights on the x2 2 are together and 1 at the middle of the 8 pin the last one being the one thats on

Yeah, i'm trying to find the place where I read about what the LED's mean.

From what I can remember there is an LED for each PCI-E power connector that turns on if there is a lack of power, and a 3rd LED that is generic 'fault/error'.

Typically, I can't find the info when I need it...

cheers hex it looks like the two together are the 6pin 8 pin and the 1 on its own which is on is the fault/error,card has been returned to ocks for test so will let everyone know the out come when i know cheers to all that replied.just hope this card dont die of a broken heart cos it s mate has died.

Hey man, just read what happened, god knows I've had enough problems with my card, I'm really happy to hear you got it sorted. Out of interest, what's the performance like on two of those? Does the quad graphics scale at all well?
