I've just installed this kit into my system... CPU-Z is only seeing it as PC2-6400... my previous ram was pc2-6400... any reason it could be doing this?

dont worry this is normal, they just didnt change the information in the SPD.
Probably because these are just speed bin selected from the same production of the PC2-6400 stuff.

oh yes - sorry -was drinking red wine last night !

lol !

at least Crucials' RMA process is nice and quick.

I suppose when you go for these "higher" binned memory sticks - potentially there is more chance of it not working at rated speeds.

1050 MHz CAS4 is quite different to the 690 CAS4 I was running with my Corsairs !

mind i have just checked the working stick and mine also says the pc6400 on cpuz even though it running higher weird hopes its not another geil story happening here

no no - its just the ID tag.

go into CPU-Z and look at the SPD settings

you'll see 2 sets in there - one stating 4-4-4-12 at 800 MHz - but another at 533 - 5-5-5-15 :)
