They did a similar promotion before (free copy of Necrovision Lost Company) that was a bit more low key and they seemed to handle no problem at all.
I guess the problem here is that they've done a promotion with a major national newspaper for multiple free games, including ARMA2 which is a pretty big title.
I suppose the idea was to drum up interest in their service via a loss-leader like this, get people installing their software so they would consider buying from GMG (Rather than just wanting to stick with say Steam), however the trouble is that most users will have had a bad experience. I still haven't been able to load capsule beyond the checking games porfolio stage, so it doesn't fill me with confidence as to how their service can cope with high demand.
