I have a 3 Monitor set-up. I need a new Graphics Card that will support this. The games I will play on it (to give you an idea of how powerful it needs to be) most source games (e.g: CS:S ,TF2 &portal 2) the most power hungry would either be Portal 2 or Battlefield: Bad Company 2 my budget is about £200 Max. but i would like to spend less if possible. I would be running 3 screens on 1600 x 900 (4800 x 900) I hope this is all the info you need.
Thank you in advance.

Not sure if you'll be able to do it that way, seemingly AMD's latest cards only offer one DVI port capable of passing an analogue signal.

So what, can i just not do it?

If you got an active adaptor then yes you would. but not with passive adaptors like the ones that come bundled with GPU's.

is mini display port to DVI, which i believe you can plug your DVI to VGA adaptors into.
(someone please correct me if im wrong)

as for a video card (which is back to your original question, you may want to look at the HD 69XX series

which will run AMD eyefinity on multiple monitors. hope this helps

I have just bought a 6870 and it will only power 1 analogue VGA monitor...
The rest have to be DVI/ digital, the display port adapter doesnt work on a analogue
I think I am going to have to swap it for a 5770 that I think will run VGA monitors..

Hi Stu,
So a 5850 might do for me then, it seems the 6XXX series only run 1 VGA.
The MSI 5850 for sale at only had 1 DVI output, the more expensive XFX 5850 seems to have 2, what model have u got ?

I'm unsure which version I've got(XFX?) but I think on the rear it has 2 dvi outputs, 1 hmdi and 1 displayport.

I use a displayport to vga adaptor(£10) and a DVI to VGA for my 2 outside VGA monitors and the DVI for my middle one

Mine looks the same as this one(it NOT a Mini port)

i think a 6870 would do the job, if the monitors are vga then you could use dvi to vga adaptors from the two dvi ports and a displayport to vga for the other, i set my eyefinity up today but the monitors had no dvi leads and when i got to the shop all i could find was dvi to hdmi leads so bought two and connected up via 1 active display port adaptor to dvi (£20 from ocuk)and 1 dvi to hdmi and the other i used the hdmi lead that came with my 6970 and all seems to be working pretty well so far

As I have just put a 6870 in my sons set up , I will be getting a display to VGA as shown by Stu.
( Stu can you pm me where you got yours )
I can then tell u how it does with 3 monitors !
I am pretty sure it will do well with the resolution maybe just not with AA etc turned to max

I have a 5970 and that will only give 30fps in Dirt when running 5760* 1200 with max settings

I guess your monitors are DVI though and his, like my sons are VGA ?

For a 6870, I think you need to buy 2 display port to VGA and use the VGA adapter that comes with the card. But thats an extra £ 40 on the budget

If you can get a matrox triplehead2go second hand, you can use any nvidia or ati card to connect to it via one vga port, and use its 3 vga outputs to connect to the monitors.

If you can find one.
