3 monitor setup - HELP

Hi guys im trying to help my friend set up a 3 monitor display in his new house.

Hes currently running a Radeon 6400 HD card. Which says is supported for multi monitor displays through Eye Infinity. However it never lets all 3 go on at once. Only ever 2. They are connected via 2x DVI slots and the other is a VGA to HDMI connection.

For him to get all 3 working he is going to need (if im correct) a active adaptor to change the signal over to display port.

Would one of these do the trick for him?

Hi,

That's not an active adapter.

If you search the OcUK shop site for "dvi active adapter" you'll see the sort of thing you need depending on whether you need DP or miniDP etc.

Unfortunately most of them are out of stock.

Yip you've probably got a passive adapter. As above you need an active one

It's a full size display port he needs I've gone ahead and ordered him the following one (sorry on the tablet at the minute, so no basket preview) this should be suitable shouldn't it?

That will work, The older cards must have DP or a mini DP for the 3rd screen.

Yeah they do. It will only run a dvi + had I or 2x dvi at any one time with the current setup. This will solve that problem, hopefully.

had the same issue a while back wit hmy 7950s and had to buy a active display port adapter all works fine now.
