Silly question time, I've gotta scythe ninja rev b winging its way to me for my E6600, with an xtra fan, neither fan as far as I know has a four pin plug (like *** the stock intel's got) is this going to cause me problems? my P5K deluxe has plenty of other three pin headers, but is it gonna have a dicky fit because it thinks there is no cpu fan attached? ( I'm asking because I did, have back in the mists of time an MSI board that plain would not boot without a fan on the cpu header!!)
thanks

The 4 pin PWN fan header on your motherboard should be able to take a 3 pin fan as well...

On my last two motherboards i have used 3 pin fans in the 4 pin PWM motherboard headers

Yep, got my Zalman VF900 with it's 3 pin socket plugged into a 4 pin socket on the motherboard, works like a charm.

Helpful response there nice one

just so ya know turbotoes, the ninja can run passive just needs the cpu fan check (usually lowest rpm etc) disabled so it doesnt check.

You shouldn't even need to plug the fan into the motherboard as most have the option to turn off the CPU fan warning. If you want to control your fans speed and either use a controller or just plug them into the PSU, you need to be able to disable it really.

mp260767: thanks but I don't think in passive mode it's quite going to do the job I want ;) in fact Im going to try it with two fans an see what difference that makes :o
Don't you just love people who want to ramp up their post count by making cracks though :)
