Hi guys,

Can't seem to get a 3 screen configuration working!

I'd like two screens duplicated (1920 x 1080) , and the other extended (1024 x 768) ...Does this make sense?

However, when I go to the display settings in Windows I can't get one of the 1920 x 1080 monitors to display , anyway to get it to work?

Thanks

How do you have the screens connected?

When using 3 screens at least one has to be connected using a DisplayPort connection from the 6870 or an adapter from a DisplayPort connection.

I'm using HDMI to one of the 1080p, and DVI to HDMI to the other.

And DVI to VGA (adapter included) to the 1024 x 768

Will that not work like that?

The weird thing is Windows still detects 3 monitors, it just won't display the one I want duplicated

No it won't work like that.

If you card has 2xDVI and HDMI you can only use 2 out of the 3 at the sime time. The third monitor has to be a DisplayPort connection or an adapter from a DisplayPort connection.

So the connections you can use are DVI+DVI+DisplayPort or DVI+HDMI+DisplayPort.

You can't use DVI+DVI+HDMI.

To use your third monitor you need an adapter from DisplayPort (or mini DisplayPort if that's what your card has) to DVI, HDMI or VGA.

You need to do some research on these adapters.

AMD say you need an active (powered) adapter but some people get away with using a passive (unpowered) adapter.

Ah cheers,

Found an adapter (came with graphics card) that fits in the mini display port.

The HDMI doesn't fit on the other side, I'm guessing it's a completely different cable to HDMI?

If the end looks like this it's a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter:

HDMI looks like this:

I don't suppose any of your monitors have a DisplayPort connection?

Cool

It's a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter then.

Will have to look at buying mini displayport to HDMI

Like I said you've got to consider this whole active/passive adapter thing.

If I remember correctly people had more luck using the cheaper passive adapters with VGA so it might be cheaper to get a VGA adapter and use the smaller monitor with that and connect the 2 larger monitors using HDMI.

Yeah, I'll have to read it up.

Might be easier to buy a HDMI splitter!
