3 series to pick

Im not really into that gang stuff with hoddies and rappers, it gets on my nerves. People speaking like "yo im from the hood doh" its just jibberish.

The language in Deadwood is almost shakespearean, the dialogue alone is worth watching it. Also I found out that Lovejoy (Ian McShane) is an awesome, awesome actor.

2 more series that I have recently enjoyed is the unit, and six feet under.

Ian McShane is absolutely brilliant and Al Swearengen is one of the best characters from any TV show I've seen. He's awesome.

totally agree, how the writers make such a dispickable character such a lovable one, I'll never know.

It is the only western themed media that seems to tell it like it was... especially in the no laws zones, but I'll say it again, theis series is worth concentrating on, the dialogue is to die for

I've always wanted to know why they called the chinese immigrants celestials...

Mr Swangen! Mr Woo!

The Shield! Best cop show ever! Vic Mackey is just the best bad, good cop ever to grace any screen. The production, writing and direction ain't bad either. :)

Ok after reading a few threads around here, theres some big fans of the wire on here. Ive noticed that in 15 days The Wire: The Complete Boxset will be out. So should i really get this and why, come on people sell it to me. Whys it so good?:)

Angel. By a country mile. It has drama/action/comedy/sci-fi all in one show.
The other two are well written, with some great acting im sure. But not so much fun ;)

Ok this thread could go on forever so this is what ill do:

Watch deadwood season 1-3 that i bought, and when thats finished ill get Angel complete boxset, and then after watching all that im gonna buy The wire complete collection:)

Good thinking bakes. You won't regret The Wire, as some reviews from Metacritic show
The breadth and ambition of "The Wire" are unrivaled and that taken cumulatively over the course of a season -- any season -- it's an astonishing display of writing, acting and storytelling that must be considered alongside the best literature and filmmaking in the modern era.
When television history is written, little else will rival "The Wire," a series of such extraordinary depth and ambition that it is, perhaps inevitably, savored only by an appreciative few.

:eek::D

Nice i think i will have to get this now, and give it a try it sounds brilliant.
So lets see my watch list that im gonna 100% buy and watch:
Deadwood- bought but still aint here yet.
Angel- gonna buy the complete boxset
The wire- The complete boxset is not out until 15 days. But i can wait:)

If you find you like Deadwood, I very much expect you'll like the Wire. They're very similar. A little difficult to get into, somewhat complicated, multi-faceted plots, and heavy on dialogue and characters. But well worth it, because it's utterly fantastic.

One this about the Wire is that you need to watcht the first few episodes to get into it. But by episode 5, your gripped

Finished watching deadwood season 1-3 and i have to say i would give it a 6/10. Season 1 started off so well, the owner of the Gem, seemed to be the bad guy. He was brilliant but then he sort of went out of that character and i didnt enjoy him as much. Season 2 and 3 were ok, there were some good episodes, and how it ended on series 3 the final season, i was like wtf??
There seemed to be a lot of talking, and not all of it in clear english, it was sort of like shakespear, i got a F in GCSE english literture (as you can tell) and i think you need to have mastered that language they were speaking.
The violence was really good, i was expecting shootouts though especially a western. But anyway at least i watched it, and now it can sit on my shelf.

Im gonna give Angel a try as i think thats gonna be quite good, from what i recall from watching a few episodes it was pretty good.

The dialogue is the best part.

That's the lowest rating I've ever seen anyone give it.

Guess it wasnt for me, the sort of series i love to watch are:
Frasier
Rome
24
Sopranos
X Files
Scrubs
Dexter
Band Of Brothers

I own all them and can watch them as many times as possible without getting bored. With deadwood i probably wont watch that again.
