30/11 Strikes.

I still haven't got a response. Annoyingly, there are now pictures posted representing the student body at the march in Glasgow. Sigh.

Here's a thought - maybe you haven't had a response because he was on the picket line/march?

Maybe they are a bit busy striking to answer you?

What was wrong with my answer, it's probably right you know. ;)

I just want to be acknowledged! *Tantrum*.

You're answer may be right, and that introduces a whole new debate on the acceptance of that. However, at least there was some sort of engagement with the student population with regards to the rise in fees and there is a policy that covers that.

This will likely end up on the front page of the DM tomorrow with some headline about Muslim Students in Glasgow smash city up in pensions strike riot while drinking special brew :D

Free minded individuals forging partnerships between legal cooperatives? Can't see much wrong with that. ;)

BBC pic. Some large processions in Edinburgh today as well.

Retail and entertainment were also reporting a significant increase in footfall and takings.

I love my job and work wise it's often feast or famine. When I'm in school I work 7:45-4:45 and I have a 15 minute break at lunch as I always have work to do. Each night I generally spend 90 marking. At the weekend I typically spend 6 hours on a Sunday. I work that out at 66 hours a week, works out just over £7 an hour. Still an easy gig?

You're right. I used to think teachers have it easy until I befriended a teacher. Dude works all the time even though his day ends at 4pm. He gets home, mark while eating and is off again tutoring, just to make ends meet.

It did not affect me today, if it was not for the news i would not even know about it. Just shows that the country does not depend on the public sector to function that is just a myth created by them to get more money. They are no more special than the people working in the private sector.

My bins weren't collected ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so angry!!!!!!!!

=)

*edit
actually its quite annoying that they moved our bin day last week to Wednesdays just in time for this lol

Oh well, when the Euro collapses, the strikers will just be a distant after thought.

There's a time and place to strike and now is not it. The country ain't got any money for you. I don't intend paying more tax to assist your retirement (seeing as your not contributing to mine, but neither is my employer).

Public sector workers out of touch with reality. Hide behind a collective-compassion but realy it is all about number one.

It's ridiculous, according to BBC today the average employer private sector pension contribution is 3% and even after cuts 14% in public sector

Public sector pay is now higher than private sector

It's time these folks got real, we would love what you are being offered, why should the rest of us have to subsidise selfish people

The government are dressing up a tax on the public sector pensions as a contribution increase. It's state sponsored stealing.

How would the private sector react if the government imposed a 3% contribution increase on all occupational pension schemes then used it to pay back government borrowing?

Why don't you guys fight back for yourself instead of calling for everyone to be equally as poor?

If you work for a company that cannot afford to fund the scheme your benefits / contributions change, the government are the employer and cannot afford this so the solution is more tax revenue or higher contributions, so who should pay for the pensions the recipients or the tax payers ? It may not be nice but it's the way things are, I do not work my nuts off to subsidise other peoples pensions when mine has been cut to a level where I cannot afford the contributions needed to maintain the benefit I was originally promised
